needle case pics

Here's some pics of my needle case!

I'm in love with it! It has a zippered pocket on the left, 3 pockets for circulars in the middle, which could probably fit 6 or more circs, and 9 pockets for needles on the right. As you can tell, I double those up as well.

Umbrella swift

My dad's going to make me an umbrella swift! Isn't that awesome? I frog a lot of sweaters, and buy a lot of yarn that's in hanks, so it will definitely come in handy. However, I didn't want to shell out $60 for it, that seems pretty steep. So I found a book that is supposed to have instructions for making one in it, and put a hold on it at the library! Unfortunately, they only have one copy of the book, and after it's returned there's one hold in front of me, so I may not get it for a while. But I'm going to get a swift!!!

Conclusion and knitting update

So, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not going to be happy with the blogger template until I actually learn the coding blogger uses, (not just HTML, by the way), and create my own. As that's going to be an involved process that I don't have time to do right now, this template is going to have to suffice. I am making myself not change it, after this very last change, as the frequent changes are even annoying me.

So, knitting. I'm still working on my Slytherin Scarf, and it's almost half done. That's right, half. I've been neglecting it in favor of the afghan I started. Earlier this week I bought two really good afghan pattern books, for knitting of course, as I can't crochet worth a damn. And this pattern was so pretty that I just knew I had to make it. So what do I do, pauper that I am? I splurged. I bought the cheapest yarn I could find (ie. Red Heart [as little as possible, of course, as I have a large aversion to that brand], Lamb's Pride, and anything else that was under $3.50 a skein in the colors I wanted). As it's an afghan, I bought about 9 skeins.

The afghan's striped, so I should have some of the colors left over when I'm done. I only bought two skeins of white, even though I'm going to use at least 4. Dye lot shouldn't matter too much on that though, so I don't need to worry about it. They count the repeats as every one mc, one cc, one mc, one cc, and if I go by their definition, I have almost six repeats done.

I've done nothing on my Branching Out scarf, it's still not even 4 inches done. I've been concentrating on my Slytherin scarf and my afghan.

However, I did start and complete a cabled handwarmer. It's my first cable project, and the cables turned out really well. However, I have wide hands, and I didn't like the way the cables stretched across the back of my hand. So improvised, and added an extra section to the pattern. Unfortunately, I added too much, and as a result it's too loose. I may end up not using this one, and make two other ones that fit.

My mom and I made a fleece blanket for my bed. The middle part, the horses on a blue background, was the fleece she had bought originally to give me for Christmas. This is what we usually do, like a couple of years ago I got this fleece, its basically just a sheet of fleece, we don't quilt it/put backing on it/bind it or anything. However, this time I wanted a heavier blanket. So I bought black fleece to put sew onto the blue, about 8 inches on both of the sides with the horses, as well as to use for the underside of the blanket. Then I put backing in between the top and bottom layer of fleece, then my mom quilted it and put binding on it. And voila! I have a new blanket. I am definitely taking it with me to college.

My bag problems

I'm having a problem with my newscarriers bag. It's also sort of showing in my Slytherin scarf, but isn't nearly as noticeable.

So, this is the problem
Anyone know what to do/how to fix it/whether it will fix itself?

Goodness

Well, I received a bank statement today and I actually have a little money in one of my accounts! So I totally caved and bought 5 skeins of Cascade 220, 2 to finish my Slytherin scarf, and 3 for my messenger bag. I'm going to go to Hilltop Yarns tomorrow and buy a 26" size 11 circular for the project, then I'm going to start the messenger bag, then felt it! It'll be my first felted project. After this week is done, and college apps are all submitted, I'm going to get a job, hopefully at a book store or an art store. But I've got to survive the apps, scholarship forms, and FAFSA first.

Toodles! I'll post pics of the yarn once its day and I have enough light.

I'm going insane!

So I think I'm going insane. I want to knit. I have 10, read it again, 10 projects I want to knit.

So what's the problem, right? I have all these patterns, all the upcoming project ideas, what could possibly be hindering me?

One word.

Money.

I am dead broke. Broke as in I have $20 to my name kind of broke. I don't have any money that I can use to spend on yarn.

You see, I have yarn, don't get me wrong. I'm making the Slytherin scarf with wool, and I have crochet thread if I want to try my hand at fine lace. I also have fun-fur (for presents) and I have cotton.

The problem is, now I'm obsessed with wool. I didn't used to be, this is a pretty new thing. My skin is uber sensitive, so I can count on one hand the number of times I have worn wool. But I've found wool that doesn't make me itchy. Believe it or not, my skin is actually okay with Cascade 220, which is a pretty low-grade wool (compared to the Pierrot Print from Madil I got from my sister at Christmas. GORGEOUS! I have to find something that will only use one skein though, its $30 a skein).

So I need a wool fix, but don't have the suppplies. Normally, I'd go to the thrift store and buy sweaters to frog, except that I don't even have enough money for that.

Grgh! I have to get a job, if only to feed my yarn addiction.

Almost finished

Well, everything is nearly in order. I downloaded a gorgeous template, it's showing up, and I customized most of the stuff. Now only the small things remain, like adding links and putting a border around my WIP project section. But I need to go to sleep, I wanted to be asleep by 1, but as you can see that didn't happen. I need sleep so that I can stay awake during class. Staying awake is always good.

Das ist alles!

Blogger

Alright, so blogger is slowly updating my template. It looks like crap right now, but hopefully soon blogger will stop being annoying and update it.

If it's not updated within the next couple of days, I'll try to contact them. As a last resort, I'll switch hosts.
